AnswerHi bigge31566,
There are several grass-types recommended for warm-climates and every one has their favorites.
If you live where summers are hot (days with temperatures above 85 degrees F or higher), a recommended grass-type for you is a cultivar of Bermuda grass. No plant on Earth has been more technically hybridized except for wheat and rice than Bermuda grass. Super-hybrids now exist, and some are suitable for golf-green quality lawns.
Bermuda grass is about as hardy and easy to care for as a lawn grass-type gets. It needs full sun and about 1-3 inches of water per-week. Add some extra water and an occasional fertilizing with added nitrogen, and you should be able to have a great lawn.
Bermuda can be started from seed in the spring or you can have it sodded or sprigged. It grows very fast and will need weekly mowing to look good. Areas can also be kept un-mowed to serve as an excellent pasture or forage grass.
With a good fertile-loamy well draining top-soil, best quality hybrid grass type(s), 1-3 inches of water per week, plenty of sun-light, ...almost anyone can have an excellent lawn with a minimum maintenance effort.
