QuestionI've had some difficulty identifying the various grass types in my yard. Possibly you might be able to help me. I have the following:
1) Medium sized blades, growing in sunny areas, grows extremely rapidly, is drought resistant, stays green in the winter, new shoots are bright green and then turn darker as they grow.
2)Mixed in with #1 is finer bladed grass, thick, but does not grow as high.
3) In the shade is a fine bladed grass, that turns brown in the winter and or if there is a dry period.
If you could recommend something I could read to identify this, I would be thankful.

AnswerMy guess would that that type number 1) is a cool season grass due to staying green in winter. Typically kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass has good winter colors. It is probably kentucky bluegrass.
2) finer leaved grass blades could be fine fescues.
3) probably a warm season grass (bahia or bermuda. My guess would be bermuda).
