QuestionAre there products availoable which will remove weeds but not harm clover?
AnswerHi Bill;
I don't know of any.
The broad leaf killers will kill clover, and the grass killers will not efect clover, but it will not kill broad leafed weeds either.
If it is grass you are trying to kill, there are grass killers that are supposed to not kill or harm broad leafed plants.I have never used it though, so I can't say whether or not it works.
I use sugar on my lawn. It makes very rich soil, and weeds don't thrive in rich soil. After a couple of years using sugar in the spring and fall, and NOT using fertilizer, the weeds stopped trying to come up, but the clover stopped coming up too.
The two "weeds" I had, that I wanted to keep were, clover and wild violets. they don't thrive in rich soil either, so they stopped coming up.
You might try calling your County
Extension Agent. You could identify the weeds you are trying to kill, and if there is something that will work on them, and leave your clover alone, they should be able to tell you about it. Otherwise, all I can recommend is, if there are not more weeds than you could ever handle this way, get an asparagus cutter and dig down to get root system and all, of the weeds.
Sorry I couldn't help you more.
If you feel there is something else I can help you with, please feel free to write.
