Question
I recently laid a patch of about 50 square feet of lawn in my back yard, but everywhere our dog urinates on the lawn, the grass dies leaving yellow patches which do not recover. Is there something I can do about this other than keeping the dog off the grass? The garden is situated in the northern part of Holland.

Answer
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. the salt concentration in the urine burns the grass and kills it. once you notice the yellow/brown spots it is too late. your only option is to flush the root zone with plenty of water if you notice the dog doing it's business, or train the dog to go in a designated spot in the yard.

I have a link to two articles on the subject (the 2nd link is the newer, updated article)
