QuestionAt my cottage, I have an automatic water sprinkler system that pumps water from the lake. There is alot of algae in the lake which results in moss growing everywhere.
1. How can I treat the water to eliminate the algae?
2. How do I kill the existing moss that has taken over the existing lawn?
Your help would be appreciated
Thank-you
Greg
AnswerMoss is caused, usually, by too much moisture and not enough sunlight. Spraying with a fungicide should get rid of it.
I use baking soda disolved in water, as a spray to eliminate and prevent fungi. It may not be a fungus you have, but an algae. sunshine directly on a fishtank will cause algae to form in the water.
Treating your lawn with a fungicide may help.
I would advise you to contact your agricultural extension agent for your area, for a better answer thanI can give you. they should be able to tell you exactly what the problem is, and how to control it.
Find them in the yellow pages, in the government sections. You will probably find that office in the County Government section.
