strawberrys

Question
I have a yard full of Strawberrys, how do
I get rid of them? Area Oklahoma City,OK

Answer
Are these wild strawberries, or strawberries you planted, and are just tired of?
If they produce large berries that are table quality, I would call around first, to see if I could find a retirement home, children's home, or some other organization that would come and get them, dig them up to transplant, and not make a huge mess of the yard.
Some nursing homes provide garden space for their residents to maintain.
If you don't care to try this, a broadleaf weed killer will do it.
GreenLight, puts out a good one. It is WipeOut. It will kill ANY broadleaved plant, and will not harm grasses.
If there is overspray on other broadleaved plants it will kill anything it hits, such as flowers you want to keep, and small trees, if it gets enough on them.
If you don't have many plants like flowers, rose bushes etc, you might cover them with plastic, while you are spraying, and when any spray has settled, take off the plastic. Spray only when there is no wind.
Roundup, will kill anything it touches, including grasses.
Roundup kills only through the leaves, or grass blades.
WipeOut absorbs through leaves, stems or trunks, and the ground.
If the area where the plants are, is not TOO large, for this to be practical, and you have plants you are afraid of harming, you could wet something, like a mop, and swab over the leaves. Every leaf doesn't have to get wet.
The leaves, and stem or trunk, carry the WipeOut down to the tap root, and kills it out.
Once gone, they wil stay gone. If you spray so it soaks the ground, it will get into any roots that share that ground area.
Hope this helps you.
