QuestionI am growing Lampranthus aurantiacus and Lampranthus Productus. I was wondering if I can get seeds from these plants, and if so how? I was also wondering how I can make them spread faster? I apreciate any help you can give me.
Thankfully,
James
AnswerHi James.
These plants do produce seed, but I am not enough familiar with it to give you good advice on it. Sorry about that. However, you can speed spread with root cuttings and/or division. I know it seems a bit contrary, but by dividing your existing plants, and spreading out the divisions, you'll start to create a fuller "look" to your patches AND encourage more vigorous growth from the cut roots.
If you do take the division approach, you should get best results by watering deeply a couple of days before you divide and then doing it again once the "new" plants are in soil. I am guessing you're in a warm area, so I suggest that you do this division either before the really hot part of the year or waiting until after summer so your plants have the best chance.
I hope this helps you out. Good luck!
