QuestionGood day
In the event of a natural disaster and food becomes scare, what would would be the top 5 -10 foods and vegetables that one can grow that you would recommend that matches all of the following characteristics:
1. Grows fast
2. Plant or fruit produces seeds that can be used to produce other plants
3. Could sustain someone for several months
4. Can be grown indoors if one does not have outdoor space
5. Requires little or minimal sunlight / care
AnswerSo many variables. Where you live.... what your soil is like...assuming you have all that covered, few plants that would sustain you can be grown with little light or indoors without artificial lights, which would need electricity or solar. Outside, you could grow kale, chard, carrots, beets, onions, peas, beans, and potatoes. They seed easily and could be overwintered if your climate is mild. Their seeds are easy to save. This is presuming you have fenced for deer and critters that also want your food. You would really need containers outside if you did not have the space. You could also grow fruit trees and berries. Very complicated question. For more information on organic gardening <a herf="http://www.avant-gardening.com">
