Beans and Corn?

Question
I've planted 10 corn stalks about mid February in a 4 x 8 foot (approx) area.  Is it too late to try this pole bean idea, and if not, what type of beans do I plant, and how is it done?  The sweet corn stalks have one ear about one inch in diameter and 5 inches long on them.

Thanks so much, and I am in the gulf coast region of Texas.

Answer
Hi Amy;
It isn't too late to plant the beans, if they have time to mature before your growing seasons ends, but it is a bit too late to get the full benefits of this planting trick.
The corn supplies a pole for the beans to grow up, and keep them off the ground, and the bean growing there puts a nutrient into the soil that benefits the corn. I don't know what it is they add though.
Your corn won't get the benefit from thre beans, but the stalks will make a good support pole for the beans.
Plant any kind of pole beans. Obviously you don't need to plant bush beans on a support.
The pole beans ( climbing), produce more beans than the bush varieties.
I like Kentucky Wonder green beans. They have aways produced well for me. Your climate may be better for some other kind though. check the zone range on the packet.
