QuestionHi! I live in southern Pennsylvania, and im looking to start a garden in my backyard. Specifically i want to grow tomatos, beans, maybe squash, watermelon, and herbs like rosemary, thyme, sage, and basil.
What we have now is grass, danelions, and plenty of sun. How should i go about it all? I can buy the herbs in pots and just plant them, right?
any help you can give would be much appreciated.
thank ya
AnswerOh, that it were that simple. Please go to our website

As for herbs, they just love ordinary, but well drained soil. Yes you can just plant them. Basil is a bit more picky and you should build up the soil first. Get a soil test kit from a nursery and get your pH neutral about 7 is what most plants prefer. Our information on soil building will tell you how to do this organically.
Be sure to mulch, plants like to be consistently moist, and be in well drained soil with cool roots.
