QuestionIs it possible to grow pole beans on okra plants similar to corn stalks? I am using a tall varity of Okra (Cow horn). I have 7 foot reebar stakes to hold everything up. Is this a good idea?
AnswerHi Richard;
I don't know. I have never tried to do that, but I would think the okra stalks would not be supportive enough. They don't get as big around, or tough as corn stalks.
The reason for growing green beans on corn stalks, besides providing nourishment for the corn.
The beans growing there puts something beneficial in the soil, that feeds the corn.
I would think too, that the beans are such a leafy plant, that the leaves would be too much shade for some of the some of the okra pods, and keep the sun off them too much.
