QuestionI noticed in one of your previous answers that you know how to avoid the little kitties making your flower beds into litter boxes. Does that include spraying the yard. And what is the best way to go about that. I grew up with lots of cats and the smell of spray kinda makes me sick. :) Also I would really like to know all you can tell me about growing lavender and rosemary. I would hate to loose my spiders but after all the reading up I have done on lawn care I would rather not have their appetizers on hand either. ;)
AnswerHi susan;
I don't use sprays of any kind. I have Asthma and it gets me wheezng.
I tried all the cat repelling products on the market, and none of them worked. I read this in an article by an organic gardener, and tried it. IT WORKS!
Peel lemons, chop up the peels in small pieces, and scatter them in the flower beds, indoor and outdoor containers, anywhere you have dirt they might make into a litter box.
In early spring, like about the first of Narch, I buy a dozen lemons, peel them and scatter the chopped peels.
As I use lemons, I always chop the peels and scatter them. I put them in one area one time, and another area another time. It doesn't take many to keep enough to reple catts fresh.
Chopped orange peels will keep fire ants out of your yard.
When it is time for fire ants to swarm, I have the smaller grandkids over, buy a big bag of oranges and they eat oranges, I chop the peels, and they scatter them, so they never have to be bitten by a fire ant while playing in granny's yard. They take their ant repeller duties very seriously.
When one of my grand-daughters was 4, she was here, and I asked her if she would like some fruit. I told her all the kinds of fruit I had, and she said " well, i would really like a banana, but i had better have an orange, for the fire ants"LOL
For just about every pest (that my lawn livestock doesn't take care of ) I have an herbal or plant repellant.
Since i went organic, my Asthma is about 90% better. I hardly ever have a hard attack (unless I go out in the fresh air and brethe in all our mountain cedar pollen)
I noticed you are still online. I am going t hang out in the organics chat room for a while, if you would like to come in.
