QuestionHi there. thx for ur time.
this is my first time growing veg.
i have abt 35 plants in my greenhouse
(aprox.4ft x 8ft)29 of which are green peppers and jalepeno's the rest are small tomatoes and 2 corn plants. I also have some romaine lettuce thrown in between.
Lately i noticed that some of the pepper plants have what looks like black spots(for lack of better words) where the leaf stems meat the stalk of the plant and today i noticed that one of the plants has the black going up the stalk as if it were in straight lines as part of the plant. can't rub it off ETC.
is this natural?
i water once every 2 days and have recently started to water them everday. i live in nfld canada and have had a poor temperatures thus far and little sun to date. will they survive this close together? should i remove the romaine lettuce bec. it looks like it is a weed. lol.
any advice greatly appreciated.
thx again
frank
AnswerThe black spots are not natural. I am not sure what they are, but you can do a search for "black spots on leaf stems of pepper plants" on the net, and probably find out.
The lettuce is elongating from lack of light. We have the same problem in the winter, so we don't grow anything in our greenhouse during that time.
You will probably have to get some kind of supplimental (expensive hallide) lighting if you want to grow successfully in your greenhouse. Sorry for the bad news!
