QuestionHello Duane,
I was told that I could ask you a question. Here's my question(s)... I bought some organic seedlings of various things (2 different tomatoe plants, 2 pepper plants, and some herbs). I needed to repot them into bigger pots. I don't have a car and so I went to what was closest to me for soil and fertalizer - Home Depot. I bought Scotts Garden Soil, and Organic Humus and Manure by EarthGro (Scotts). I mixed them half and half, or a third manure to 2/3 soil.
I really have no idea what I'm doing! ha
Is this stuff in any way organic (the manure claims it is, but I know nothing about the soil), and did I mix the correct amounts of fertilizer to soil?
Also, it's cold out here (Chicago, in the 50s and 60s), and so I am keeping them inside. Eventually I will keep them on my porch - but I live in an apartment and don't always get a lot of direct sunlight there. I have a window facing south, maybe I should keep the plants inside facing south?
Ok well any steering in the right direction will be much appreciated. Thanks
Grace
AnswerGrace.
I would mix 1/4th manure to 3/4ths soil mix if it was me. As far as being organic I am sure they both are but I doubt if either one would be acceptable for use in "certified organic gardening".
Keeping your plants in the south window would be best. I used to many years ago live in the northern part of Indiana so I am familer with your weather.
