tiny white bugs

Question
i have recently found some very small(about the size of a grain of sugar)white insects in my bedroom. Me, my partner nor my 6 week old baby who shares the room with us have any bite marks or rashes. You can not see them usually but when either me or my partner have a bright light on they seem to be attracted to it. Please can you tell us what these bugs are and how to get rid of them as i have a 3 year old and newborn in the house.

Answer
Michelle,

These are probably mold mites, also called grain mites (there may be other common names in the UK as well). See http://www.livingwithbugs.com/mites.html for a drawing of these mites. The mites are harmless, they don't bite. However, the mites may indicate a moisture problem which can lead to mold growth and mites. If you find and solve the moisture problem the mites will go away. Post a follow up if you have questions.
