QuestionHi, I recently noticed these tiny whites insects on my wooden bed frame and wooden drawers and dressers. They are really small about the size of a full stop. and are hard to see. They are white and there is quite a few. Do you know what they could be and how to get rid of them? Thank You Carol :)
AnswerCarol,
This sounds like grain mites, also called mold mites (see http://www.livingwithbugs.com/mites.html for a drawing of a mold mite). These mites are associated with damp moldy areas. When they occur in homes it usually means a leaky pipe, roof, and so forth that allows mold to grow. The best way to get rid of the mites is to locate the source of moisture and fix it. The mites are harmless (but the mold can be a health problem) and will go away once the area dries out.
