Question
I seen question regarding the yellow throwup looking fungus.sounds like what im seeing only for few hours theres red stuff oozeing up thru it that looks like blood,as it dried the boody stuff just looks black now.mulch was just put down about a month or so ago...any help on this is much appritiated.I have 9month old grandsons and im concerned for their health...Thanks

It's basically the same thing as the yellow fungus, just from a different species of spores. If you were to touch it or try to rake it, you'll notice thousands of spores flying up. That's why it's important to spray the growth with a fungicide, such as copper. But just like with the yellow fungus, it will do no harm to the surrounding plants or to humans. It's just unsightly and is caused by the spores in the mulch.
