QuestionWe have a lot of chipmunks in our yard. They have tunneled under our sidewalk and have deposited a 2 ft pile of rock in our flower bed. We have had them for 3 yrs now and the rock pile keeps growing. We are afraid of what this is doing to our sidewalk foundation. We think they are getting in our garden also. I thought they were so cute I didn't want my husband to do anything about them but it is getting out of hand. Last fall my husband hooked a hose up to his tail pipe of car and tried to poison them with exhaust fumes. It didn't work. Help, what can we do?
AnswerSorry he wasted his time with exhaust fumes. If he visited http://icwdm.org he would have learned what to do.
Details on trapping chipmunks can be found there. Wear gloves when handling traps and trapping. Follow all state and local laws.
If you have a bird feeder on the property follow the instructions on how to modify it to reduce food reaching the groung. Also on the site.
