Questionim expeiencing an ants crawling outside of my car as well as insside . I wash my car and they keep coming back. Do u know any chemical that is safe to use on the outside and the inside of my car that i can use to get rid of these ants. This is a brand new car so i do not want to mess up the paint.
AnswerUsually if ants are crawling on the outside of the car the cart is parked under a shrub that has ants on it an they are crawling from the shrub to the car. There may be a branch that is touching the car as an access. Try to determine where the ants are coming from and attack them there if you can. IF they are just crawling on the ground and then the car you can spray an insecticide for ants (Raid etc.) around the car and this will lay down a chemical barmier that the ants can not cross. I agree I would not spray the paint since some insecticides have a carrier in them that could damage the paint. It maybe also that you are parking under a tree that has aphids and the car is being dripped on. Aphids and scale insect suck the plant juices from the plant and secrete a substance called honeydew which is high is sugar content and sticky. Ants harvest the honeydew for food. Check and see if your car is sticky and if so keep it washed off and try not to park under a tree.
Inside the car spray any house hold insecticide and this will kill the ants there. Something like Ortho Home Defense will work fine.
