I have a very strong skunk odor in the mornings so I must have skunks. I live in the country and my dogs are in at might, what could be causing the skunks to spray?

Maybe nothing. Sometimes they just die. Skunk odor can be smelled a mile away.

I would suggest you perform a property inspection as instructed by icwdm.org They have a free online course (takes about 45 minutes) on how to do it. Since you don't have to inspect attics in your situation, you can probably scroll through much faster.
