QuestionSince the last person decided not to answer, I'm trying again...
"In Kingsport TN the condo complex I live in is having problems with animals burrowing under decks and porches. Trapping is effort in futility since more will always be coming back. Is there anything they can apply, build, or do to stop the animals from burrowing? Can moles, possums, raccoons, and/or other vermin cause undermining of property foundations? This is their justification for using condo funds to solve their problem. Thanks for any help you can give!!! (And those letters were REALLY hard to see for your SPAM robot question!!! Hope I got them right!)" and was asked initially on 05/21/2010
AnswerMolly,
Sorry for the difficulty you've had getting your question answered. Unfortunately I'm also not the right person. If you look at my profile I do insect and mite questions not mammals and rodents. However, I'll take a stab at it but you should probably ask someone with more experience as well.
I don't think any of these critters can damage foundations. That would take more excavation than they typically do. So from that standpoint I don't think removing them is needed. However, trapping is the best method of removal for the larger animals like raccoon and possum. There are pest control people that can very quickly trap these out from a property. The smaller animals like moles are more difficult but from my experience don't cause enough damage to warrant removal so I'd just ignore them.
Hope this is useful.
