Questionit has started to shed its bark is is just peeling off. i did give it a feed on the trunk in the autumn but did not spray it overall. It looks healthy enough with plenty of green in the branches as normal but the lower half of the trunk is affected.
AnswerIt is a normal process for trees to shed their bark, especially in early spring. This is all part of the growing process. As long as the trunk is not splitting or decaying, a sure sign of insect or pest damage, and the branches are green below the bark, you have little to worry about.
Just be sure to spray the trees in late winter with a dormant oil to kill any eggs before they hatch. You also want to apply the first all-purpose fruit spray just before the buds open. Once the flowers fall, begin your spray program through late summer with applications once every 10-14 days.
I hope this answers your question. Good luck, and please write again if I can ever provide assistance.
