With catch and release will either a chipmunck or squirrel find its way back....how far do you need to take them away from the premises.

First question, is translocation even legal in your state? Even if it is, there are LOTS of reasons to not do it.
visit http://icwdm.org to learn why. Two of which are transfer of disease and the stress on the animals. Many translocated animals just die or are killed by predators as they are unfamiliar with the area.

If it is legal, then translocate at least 2 miles for the chipmunk and 12 for the squirrel. Always go over a major barrier like a river or super highway.
