I have an area in my yard the has perfectly round holes in it but no mounds that are usually associated with moles- there are tunnels- is it possible that these are moles-and if so -how should I go about getting rid of them????

Perfectly round holes are not associated with moles. Voles yes, moles no.

Now voles will utilize mole tunnels, but moles have no interest in coming to the surface.

So since it is still unclear as to what exactly is the cause of the damage (as we only know what it isn't), I suggest visiting http://icwdm.org and consult the damage inspection pages to help determine what the cause might be. If nothing else it will further reduce options. If you arrive at a conclusion, there will be plenty of info on how to control a wide variety of species.
