Question
I'm not sure exactly what I have.  I just purchased this home 2 months ago...Along the front foundation area there is no grass,  just dirt.  I had noticed these "hole like" places in that area.  They each are circular but have no visible opening.  I had sprayed an insect barrier around the perimeter of the house even over this area...watered it down and noticed the places were re-appearing....at first I thought maybe there was a hole in my gutter and it was from drops of water hitting the area...upon further examining the gutters are fine. I haven't seen anything crawling around the area.  If an image would help I can send one.  Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

An image would help. The only insect I can think of is an antlion that makes a cone-shaped depression in loose soil.
