QuestionI was outside with our daughter today in the lawn and noticed the lawn almost covered with what looked like webs (I didn't notice until we'd been out there for about twenty minutes). I did some research and read about funnel spiders and a couple diseases. However, these webs aren't circular, and I actually do see some spiders out there. The webs are attached at the tops of blades of grass--about 8 inches apart. There are also webs all over most of our bushes. Our bushes are fairly small and young, since our home is only a couple years old. Also, the lawn looks fine otherwise--quite lush and green. We used a lawn service last year and stopped about 2 or 3 months ago. You really don't notice the webs unless you're really close or at the right angle (close to the ground). I did take some pictures and can send some if that helps. Thank you!
AnswerCindy,
There are lots of different spiders that make webs like this. All are harmless and in fact are beneficial because they control lawn pests (so you don't need the lawn service). If the webs get too annoying use water from a garden hose to knock them down.
