QuestionI have been renting a house in Southern Utah for the last year. Out of the blue, last week I noticed about 30 little gray "worms" on my back concrete walkway. They seem to crawl up onto the concrete in the early evening when it gets rather chilly, stay all night, and then return from whence they came in the morning when it warms up. They started out being rather thin round worm type things, about 1-2 inches long. Now, we're getting bigger and fatter and are running about 3 inches long and there are literally hundreds all over my front and back walkways. They curl up when disturbed, but have no legs or hairy things. I looked online and couldn't find anything close. They are not millipedes. They are definitely gray, from kind of slate gray to almost black. Solid in color, not slimy, with lots of "sections". I am so NOT a worm person. I can't find any info online and I have seven children that play outside all day. Any clue what they could be? And whether I should be seriously worried? Someone suggested sprinkling borax all over the concrete. That was an effort in futility. How can I get these things to disappear? To add to the mystery.... none of my neighbors have them. How did *I* get so lucky???
AnswerCaryn,
Could you post of picture of these worms? They sound like ordinary earthworms but I'd like to see a picture. Also, what do your neighbors say about the worms? Have they ever seen them before? Post a follow up question if you have other concerns.
