grey fox problem

Question
Hi, I live in Virginia and have a problem with a grey fox.  I have not got a good look of it but have seen it three times and am sure that it is a fox and not a raccoon or other small mammal.  My problem is that I have about 7 semi domesticated outdoor cats.  A few nights ago I saw the fox on my front porch with my cat cornered, as soon as it saw me it ran away, but yesterday it was discovered that one of my cats was missing and the driveway was splattered with blood.  The animal protection provided us with a trap, but when I set it all I caught was a raccoon, which I let back out in my backyard.  My yard is fenced in and the fox is not afraid to come close to the house.  In all 2 or 3 of my cats have gone missing.  Do you know how often the fox will eat and when and where would be the best place to set a trap for it, and what should be in the trap.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Caroline

Answer
Hi Caroline,

I don't know about trap use but you may have already caught the killer.  Raccoon are known to kill and take away cats. They are very sneaky about it. If you are lucky enough to catch it again, get rid of it.  Of course the fox is likely the killer.  I make electronic deterrents that keep both raccoon and fox away. You may not be able to obtain one quickly enough for the immediate situation, but one would prevent new predators from getting your cats. My website is:

NightPests.com

Best of luck with the trap. I wish that I could help... but no. Don't leave food or water out at night. They are attractions to fox, raccoon and other night pests.
