QuestionSon Evan is going to be graduating this May. He is an avid hunter and trapper. In looking forward to a career we are investigating this area as it is a passion of his. In this area he is totally self motivated and self taught. He is called by locals to remove unwanted animals IE. Coons, badgers, etc that cause damage or become to close for human safety. He is more interested in rural areas than urban I would very much like to know what could be expected from a career of this nature.
Thank you,

AnswerYou didn't say what he was graduating from, high school, college?
If he is interested in a career in wildlife damage management in rural settings then he should look into wildlife services. It would be best if he called me while I was at work. 402-472-8961. I work at UNL. I am normally in the office from 9-5:00 m-friday. Of course, you can call too as there is too much to lay out in this e-mail.
Otherwise, he can visit our website and read the information on becoming a professional, http://icwdm.org We have a series of things he will need to consider.
If he really wants to make money though, he must reconsider his rural approach. He will need to go where the people are to get the money. Critter control franchises don't exist in rural areas.
