QuestionI have a rose bush that insects are eating the leaves. I can't see them with the naked eye. What can I put on the bush to save it? I'm looking for something that I can make at home vers. store bought.
AnswerAlbert, you probably have aphids infesting your roses. Insecticidal soap is effective and can be made at home. Simply mix one tbs. of non-concentrated lemon dish soap in one gallon of water. Add this mixture to a spray bottle and spray the plants liberally. The soap kills the insects' digestive tracts and eradicates the problem.
One other trick is to plant garlic every fall around your roses. Aphids are deterred by the odor and will not infest the plants.
I hope this answered your question. Please write again if I can ever be of assistance.
