QuestionI just moved into a new house in a suburban community and have some unexpected co-habitants. To my surprise, there were mice that I have had exterminated upon arrival. I saw a raccoon on my deck (the deck has a pergola and is surrounded by trees) and now I see a rabbit family under the porch. The previous owners were avid gardeners and have a huge flower and herb garden.
Any tips on how to deter the raccons from coming on the property (there are raccon dropping on the roof, but no apparent damage yet). Also, how can I encourage the rabbit family to leave without harming them??
Thanks
Sam
AnswerHi Sam,
I make a good raccoon deterrent. Guaranteed to work. I know of no other that works as good or better. You could also cage trap them... but use live traps specifically rated for raccoon. They are tricky... and very strong.

The rabbits can be live trapped in floor plate triggered cage traps and relocated. Wrap the cage with newspaper to make a tunnel. Tuck it in near where the rabbits are and they will go into it without even using bait! They have a "nook exploring" instinct.
