I live in Arizona where there are alot of Quail. I planted some small flowers and the Quail are eating all of the buds. What can i spray or put in the soil to scare them off. I tried moth balls but that just stunk up my yard.

Sorry you wasted your time on mothballs, most birds can't smell. Best solution is the fence your garden, along sides and top.

Hazing may work for a short time. Visit http://icwdm.org to learn hazing techniques.

Otherwise, consult your state laws to see if you can obtain a lethal control permit.

I don't advise feeding them as you may just increase the problem in the future. It would be like paying protection money. It is only a short term solution.
