QuestionDo you know anything about controlling fleas? We have a serious infestation in one room of our house. We have tried many things. If you know something about the subject, let me know and I'll fill you in on our efforts thus far.....
Thanks!
Answerit depends on where you live and the conditions you are living in...i'm in southern NJ.
prevention is easier than getting rid of fleas.
the best way to control fleas in a house is to prevent them from entering the house on your pets. apply flea preventer drops to your animals fur to keep the fleas from living on them. you usually have to do it once a month during the flea season. you can find the product at your vet or online using your search engine.
once you have the fleas in the house it is quite harder to get rid of them. fleas undergo complete metamorphosis(the young are worm-like and do't look like the adults). it is easier to kill the adults and the larva they develop from. vac the room and all its' contents to suck up the adults, larva,, and nits. fleas produce egg cases(nits-used to shield the eggs))from pesticides. these egg cases stay on your pets, in the carpet, under funiture, etc... then maybe use a fumigant...
go to a local pet store and/or vet and see what they recommend for your area and house conditions(other pets, children, carpet, etc.). severe infestations usually are best dealt with by using a fumigant in the house. if it is that bad get a EPA/DEP certified pesticide contractor to come in and do the job. you may have to vacate the house for a few days while the fumigant is being used.
for now you should also wash your pets w/a chemical approved for use on pets.
hope this helps
good luck
