QuestionSomething is digging holes in all of my flowerbeds, sometimes digging up and trampling my plants. I assume it's armadillos because we live in South Louisiana and our property is surrounded by ditches where they've probably made lots of lovely homes. How can I keep them out of my flower beds? I have put up a low metal decorative fence around a bed they were in a lot and they seem to have moved on to other beds. Is there something simple that I could spread around on the ground or put by my beds to keep them away? I don't want to fence in every bed and I'm not too jazzed about trapping them either. Thanks!

AnswerHi
Yes it sounds like armadillo. They can really make a mess. I've suspected a couple large ones on a leash could be used as a rototiller substitute if you sprinkle ants in front of them. Your flower bed must have grubs or other food of interest.
I make and sell electronic deterrents that do fairly well at discouraging them from general areas. The effective area for armadillo is significantly less than the area rated for deer. Expect about 1/2 acre from each. You would need 2 to protect completely around a building due to blocked sound. Here is my web site. You can ask further here or use my email at the web site.
