QuestionI just purchased a house. while the painters were painting around the ceiling fixture they noticed what they identified as "wasps" (four of them) also in the kitchen we have a ceiling fan where some more were spotted. I have not seen any in one month. any suggestions? have they gone into their winter mode? I have been told that I can blow Boric acid up into the rafters for extermination, is this true?
Thank you
AnswerBoric acid will not do much good since the wasp will have to walk through the powder in order to get the dust on their body. I would not be concerned since wasps in late fall and early winter will leave the nest area and seek a warm place for the winter. I am quite sure that is what you have seen. They will make a new nest next spring BUT it will be in a location whare they can easily come and go outside--this is noramlly outside under the eaves of the house or in the shrubery not inside. IF you see any wasps next spring look for their nest and destroy the nest and the wasps will leave.
