QuestionI have an aspen tree whose leaves are curling up on the edges and drying out. I noticed this after I watered one day, and left the water on too long. Might I have over-watered? and if so - will the ground dry out and the tree recover? or might it have developed an fungus and how might I treat that?
AnswerOver watering can be as bad as too little water and the symptoms are about the same--wilting foliage. The ground will dry out if the water is stopped. I would not water more than once a week and then with 1 inch of water----place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. A fungus would not have developed this fast so I would rule that out. It does sound like too much water.
