QuestionLast year I had my garden overtaken by ants..tons of ants. I would pull a carrot and 50+ ants would crawl from the hole and my carrot would look like a maze. I have them everywhere in my garden and they are eating everything. I thought I had aphids which attract ants so I took steps to rid of the aphids but the ants stuck around. Please help me..I live in Montana..Zone 3-4..Thankyou for your time!!
AnswerShawna:
It would be best to get your ants identified first and try to determine where they may be coming from if there is a point source. There is probably an appropriate insecticide that can be used, but not being familiar with your type of ants and situation, I would suggest that you contact your local county Agricultural Extension office. There should be an office in every county and a person qualified to may a "house call" and address your issue since they are more familiar with your region. The office is usually located in the county courthouse, but if you have trouble finding a telephone number, let me know what county you live in and I can try to locate a number to call.
You may also stop by your local garden center (not the big box stores!)for their advise also. I suspect that the Extension office would be a good choice.
