QuestionWe've had 2 of these for years located in the front of our home. This spring they have developed with a "reddish" bloom...1 bush almost 3/4 covered and the other about 1/3 covered in this
"blanket" (to my eye, it looks almost like cobwebs) Should we pull or are they worth saving? Thanks.
AnswerDear Marge, If it looks like cobwebs, it probably is webbing. You have spider mites and you will need to spray them. If you can find Kelthane, use that, but otherwise go to a gardening center and get the strongest available product that specifically kills spider mites. Fertilome Triple Action Plus is one product but there are many others. You will need to spray several times about a week apart to completely get rid of them. I wouldn't advise just pulling them out, because the mites will still move to other plants. You can spray them heavily, and spray thoroughly until the pesticide is dripping off the plant. They will be fine. Let me know if you have further concerns. Good luck, Melissa
