QuestionThis season many of the buds on the lower branches of my oak tree are spliiting off about an inch from the buds. We had an unussual cold spell after a warm spell and the buds were already out when the cold spell hit.
AnswerSounds like a reaction form the cold. As long as the tree is putting out new growth it will be fine. You may lose a little growth but the over all health of the tree should not be effected. Hardwood trees have the capability to leaf pout again IF the first buds are damaged.
