QuestionI had 2 beautful robbelinis that I left too long in the pots from nusery. One had 4 stalks 2 are still green the other had 3 now 2 still geen. My question, before I plant in the ground do I cut off the stalks that appear dead? Or will they come back? If I do have to cut them I was going to plant both next to each other so they will look larger,do I loosen up the rootball. By the way I live in South Fl.
Thank you, Patricia
AnswerPatricia:
You can remove the dead portions, but be very sure they are dead first. I would almost be inclined to let the plant get established in the ground first, before doing any pruning/removal. If the root ball is compacted, you can loosen it up some. This will speed acclimation to the new surroundings. You may wish to have a soil test done to see if you need to add any nutrients before you plant. Every county has a Cooperative Extension office that may do soil tests for free.
