QuestionHi,
May I know if Blood Lily can be grown indoors? I live in a high-rise apartment in Singapore and my balcony can get windy at nights. There's sunlight in the afternoon, usually from Nov-Jan.
AnswerDear Alfredo, The blood lily is one of my favorites. When I lived on the Gulf Coast, I would see them growing everywhere, so I am pretty familiar with them. I think you should be able to grow them indoors, as they tolerate a wide range of light, from pretty shady to almost full sun. I would try to provide them with some strong light for at least a few hours a day. Incidentally, did you know that you can get the lilies to make more bulbs by scratching the bulb you have along the sides, either before planting or while in the ground. Just give the blood lily regular bulb care and enjoy the incredible blooms. Fertilizing with a relatively low first number and high middle number will keep it from growing top-heavy and produce better blooms. Good luck, Melissa
