QuestionI live in Long Island New York. I seek your advice on how to care my the pomegranate tree, what fertilizer to use, etc. I had 15 fruit this season.
My quince tree had beautiful fruit this fall with no sign of damage to fruit on the exterior. When I harvested the fruit and wrapped them in newspaper and stored in garage, after several days, most of the fruit started to show big brown spots and basically could not be eaten where this appeared. What can I do to prevent this next year?
I value your advice and look forward to reading it. Thank you.
AnswerHi Penelope, Look for a good slow release fertilizer. Check for the salt and chlorine content and make sure it is low as possible, this kills plants. The first number is for leaves, second for roots and the third for blooms and fruit. This will help you decide which one suites your plant. For fruit trees the last number should be the highest.
The brown spots could be a fungus, check out canning and preserving for those answers. kathy
