QuestionI have several aspens that I believe are quacking aspens. One of the mature trees has a trunk that has turned black from the ground up to near the top. It looks as though it has been on fire. None of the other trees look like this. Is this caused from a pest or some other disease? Is there
anything that can be done? Thank you for your help.
AnswerRamona:
Does the tree seem to be affected by the black trunk? For example, has it lost its leaves earlier than in the past or are there more dying branches? About how tall is your tree?
If possible, can you send me a photo of a section of the trunk? Maybe a photo taken 10-15 ft away from the tree. Be sure to review your image on your computer first- to be sure it is crisp and in focus before you attach and send.
Thanks
Steve
