dying rhododendron

Question
We have an old rhodi, 0ver 25 yrs old, that seems to be dying.  We had an extremely hot, dry summer and it didn't receive much water I'm afraid.  Two of it's branches have brown curled up leaves and another branch has drooping leaves but none of them have turned colors or curled up.  Several branches are showing no problem at all.  It's a small bush, not more than 4 feet tall.  I would like your opinion on whether it is just the harsh summer it's just gone through or if it may be some other problem.  It's been in this same location for all those years and hasn't really done what I would call great since it's never grown much.  I haven't lived here but 8 years but it has done much better since I pruned the euynomous next to it that had been left to grow wildly.  Thanks for your imput.  I can send a picture if you would like but I really have no idea how to do that!

Diana:
I'd start out by a deep and refreshing drink.  It has been hot here too!  If it has a random splattering of dying branches, you can prune these out.  Use you fingernail to locate where the dying wood stops and green portion starts on a branch by scratching the bark looking for green beneath. With your pruners, go back down the branch into the green area by 1-2 inches to make your cut.. Dispose of the prunings.  Let's see how this goes for the time being.
