Question
Pelargonium Peppermint
Hi, I live in Tampa, directly on the water. My plant is growing but has brown areas on many of the leaves. I looked at pictures of rust on this plant, but it looks different. What do you think it is?
Thanks for your help
AnswerHi Betty,
Avoid overwatering and wetting of the leaves. If possible, do not use overhead sprinklers to water geraniums. Instead, each pot or flat should be watered at the soil surface. The area where plants are grown should be adequately ventilated to keep the leaves dry. Use caution when applying pesticides to minimize splashing from plant to plant. To prevent the possible buildup of bacterial populations on benches, they should be of the open mesh type. Growing geraniums on solid top benches or in soil-filled beds should be avoided. You would need to stop doing the above and is very hard to correct. It looks like a fungal problem due to watering practices. You could try Atomic Grow and see if it reverses the problem. kathy
