QuestionMy banana tree which is in a big pot has a white film on the leaves and has brown drying edges as soon as new leaves pop out. It is outside in a covered lanai. When I dig in the mud mosquitos fly around. I live in New Orleans. Is this a fungus and insect issue?
Thanks for any help you can give!

AnswerHi Angela, Do you have a pan under the plant to collect water? If you do it could be getting too much water. You need to empty the water pan after 15 minutes after watering or lift it higher so the pot is not sitting in the water. It may need some spraying on the leaves if there is not enough humidity where you live. It may need to be moved into a bigger pot. Some bananas grow very large and your pot may be too small. Do you know the kind you have? If you use a cheap fertilizer it coudl be fertilizer burn. Hope one of the above helps. kathy
