Why does one half of the leaves on one side of my tree look like they are parched,brown and wilted while the other half looks perfectly healthy?

Answer
I would guess that the side with the damage is next to a building or a sidewalk or driveway and the heat from that side has caused the problem. Maybe a herbicide was sprayed on that side. A picture would help--one showing the position of the tree where it is planted. But it sounds like an environmental cause not any insect or disease.
