Question
Sick Holly Plant_Page_
Hello, we have 2 holly bushes in our backyard, one of which (the male) appears to be dying or dead. The second bush is starting to show the same yellow leaves that the first bush had. I have attached a jpg file to show you. The bush on the right (the one with a few leaves and a lot of sticks!) is the dying/dead male. Any thoughts about the cause of this? We live just west of Chicago, IL. Thanks so much for your help! Nancy
AnswerNancy:
Thanks for your photo. I noticed the soil appears wet and there is a drainage pipe visible. Is there a possibility that the dying bush is getting too much water from the drain? Suggest taking a look at the soil in the root zone area of the dying bush to see if it is too wet.
Regards
Steve
