QuestionWe have white barnacle like spots on the underside of branches on a weeping elm tree. It attracks flies and other flying insects. Some of the limbs are black. This tree was planted about five years ago and the problem about 3 years. It comes back each year the leaves are mostly ok.

These barnacles may be a type of insect or fungus. Can you take a photo and send to me to look at? Be sure to review your image on your computer first- to be sure it is in focus before sending. Try to get as close as you can to take the shot. Take a few, send the best one.
You can also snip off one of the affected branches if you wish and carry to your local nursery/garden center for those folks to look at. Best to get an Identification first.
