QuestionA 3 year old dwarf lime, not in pot, about 3 1/2 feet tall was doing well for the first 2 years. Here, in a cooler, windier part of San Rafael, CA. it suddenly has developed leaf curling, browning to blackening and dropping central and peripheral leaves and the new fruit is dying before it gets to pea size. Adjacent privet is having similar problems. The bushes and trees are on drip system, about 1/2 -1 gal. per hour 3x per week. Have pruned out dead leaves and branches and sprayed with antifungal topical/systemic. Please advise.
AnswerHi Mark, Leaf curling on a citrus is the leaf minor which comes out when the weather turns hot. Sounds like you also have some aphid problems maybe starting from the privet and jumping to the citrus. Also, sounds like maybe too much water, about 3 1/2 inches per week once plants are established. You may want to try Atomic Grow for the fungus, bugs and leaf minor problems you are having. It is organic and will bring your tree back to health. Also, make sure no mulch is under your citrus. kathy
